So this mower bot is great for people who do not have dogs and have a perfectly manicured lawn to start. We however, have dogs, and with that, not the best lawn either. We had a bunch of moles infiltrate the yard and the dogs would dig holes to go after them. This mower does not do well with anything other than a perfectly flat surface, but will climb small slopes. I had to fill in the damaged areas in the yard and find all the places that it would get hung up onbefore it would do a full cycle on its own, going from the charging station, around the yard for its session, and then successfully return to the charger. Sometimes it will work without a hitch, and other times it will get hung up and spin the tires until it realizes it’s hung up and needs assistance. I didn’t realize that it was scheduled for daily mows and the first couple of times I would notice it it had started to mow before I had a chance to pick up after the dogs. I’m sure you’ve seen the Roomba videos of people coming home to dog disasters… this isn’t that bad, but still not ideal. Also, it will not stop for tennis balls. We’ve lost a couple already. The biggest thing to realize is that this will mow everyday to help maintain a level of grass, that way it’s not cutting off more than it can handle. The mower blades are like thicker versions of razor blades, so it’s not like a normal gas mower. To that end though, it’s super quiet, and I can hardly tell it’s cutting when it is slowly creeping around the yard. It does a pretty good job for the most part. It still gets hung up on spots in the yard that aren’t always obvious obstacles. We have a fenced in yard that we let the mower go in and there is a sidewalk up to our front door– it completely avoids sidewalks and will go all the way up to the fence while cutting. I’m pretty happy with the mower so far. I get way more alerts from it than I’d like, but I guess you need to know when it’s hung up. Wish I had one that could handle 6 acres worth, but I guess that’s what kids are for.
