I bought 4 of these to hang in a tiny house we built for my mother-in-law. They are basically 100% blackout (see photo of double door without shades and window on the left with shade to see how much light it blocks) and block the cold radiating from outside, where it is currently just below freezing. They were easy to install. The brackets on the top can snap into the shade at any point, so you don’t even have to measure to get the bracket to line up with anything. There are only 2 screws on each bracket, one in the top and one in the back. Each shade took about 8 minutes to install by myself with a cordless drill. However, since our windows only have wood on the TOP frame, then plastic/vinyl that I couldn’t drill into on the window itself, I had to improvise a little. I put a 1×2″ board cut to the width of the window up at the top and anchored it to the wood frame on the top using 3″ wood screws. (I painted the boards white like the trim and frame so they aren’t obvious. See photo of the 1×2″ board as installed.) Then I screwed the hanging bracket into the top frame and the 1×2″ board, and snapped the shade onto the brackets. This extra step took about 5 more minutes per window, but the shades hang and function perfectly. I considered returning them and purchasing another “top mount” shade instead, but they seemed like such good quality that I didn’t want to risk exchanging them for a lower quality product. In the end, I’m very glad I did!Overall, 10/10 for the product. I just ordered some for our “big” house.
